The Victorian Government's provision of $300,000 in funding for environmental works on vacant cemetery land at Altona will fast-track the opening of a memorial parkland and nature reserve on the Kororoit Creek site, said Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust CEO, Jacqui Weatherall.

The grant, awarded to GMCT through the Department of Health and Human Services cemetery grants program, will enable the implementation of a new environmental management plan for the site.
Located on the northeast corner of Grieve Parade and Dohertys Road, the 11-hectare site borders the Kororoit Creek environmental corridor.
Other partners in this project include Melbourne Water, Hobsons Bay Council and Toyota, all of who have come on board to support this fantastic project.
FOLKC is excited by works proposed by the project as the site will eventually become the jewel in the crown of all the development along the Kororoit Creek corridor by FOLKC over the past 18 years, says FOLKC President Geoff.
