Trail Construction underway - Pic courtesy Allan Williams FOLKC.

This section of trail was made possible by a massive donation by Toyota Australia to leave an ongoing legacy to the community and workers who were involved in the manufacturing plant in Altona North.
Toyota Australia, the State Government through its Sport & Recreation budget, along with a Hobsons Bay Council Grant, have contributed more than 3.8 million dollars towards the development of this section of trail and artwork.
Access to the Creek in the construction zone is prohibited during the construction phase but views of the progress can be seen from Blackshaws Road. Work on the trail and the new Hosken Reserve car park and toilet has commenced and the viewing platform has been investigated for Aboriginal significance by experts. The artwork component included in the project is well underway but will not be seen until the opening of the trail in July.
At the opening celebration on Tree Day, 2300 trees and shrubs, representing the number of Toyota employees who are to lose their jobs due to the plant closure, are to be planted on site followed by the cutting of the ribbon to open the trail for community use. The artwork trail will be opened for the public to peruse and the FOLKC book launched to complete the opening.
Free food, drink and entertainment will be on offer to all who attend National Tree Day on 30th July 2017. More details on the web site as the event gets closer.
Looking forward to a fantastic day celebrating National Tree Day 2017 with Toyota employees and the local community.
