This year FOLKC will undertake its annual clean-up along the Kororoit Creek, this year concentrating on the nature reserve south west of Barnes Road. This area has been ‘rubbished’ by trucks that have blatant disregard to the local environment.
These trucks load and unload goods within the domain of Toll Holdings properties with rubbish either dropped or thrown from the trucks and allowed to accumulate along the fence line awaiting southerly winds to take it into the nature reserve.
This is an untenable situation and the issue will be addressed by FOLKC to the management of the site.
However in the interests of improving the environmental outlook, FOLKC will be concentrating on cleaning this area on Sunday 1 March meeting at 9am at Barnes Road Bridge, Altona North. Future Plans for this area will be discussed during morning tea – please note – NO BBQ this day as Hobsons Bay Rangers will be totally occupied organising the total effort over all of Hobsons Bay.
