Greening the West members celebration success

Premier’s Sustainability Awards 2019

Thanks to City West Water’s support, the Greening the West Project received the Premier’s Environment Award for Environmental Protection for planting in excess of one million trees in the West during 2015 – 2017. Friends of Lower Kororoit Creek Inc. (FOLKC) partnered with many state government agencies including Hobsons Bay Council as we planted in excess 7500 indigenous trees along the Kororoit Creek corridor.

A fantastic result for the community and for the health and wellbeing of all who live and work in the West of Melbourne.

FOLKC acknowledges our sponsors Toyota, Planet Ark, Melbourne Water, Hobsons Bay Council, Altona North Landfill and Cedar Meats for their support of the project and thanks the many local community members who helped plant on the three National Tree days during the period.

Friends of Lower Kororoit Creek (FOLKC) was incorporated in April 2001 and held its first planting on 3rd June 2001. Since then there have been countless planting days and other working bees with more than 1,000 volunteers of all ages, planting in excess of 50,000 trees, shrubs and under-storey plants along the creek ...
